Four workers died and two are critical after gas leakage at a factory in Bahadurgarh industrial area in Haryana, ANI reported. "Labourers had gone down a 5 feet deep tank to clean it. It's suspected that due to this four have died and two are serious, further probe underway," ANI quoted DC Shakti Singh as saying.


SP Wasim Akram said the families of the deceased workers were being contacted and an investigation would be conducted into the tragedy.


The development comes a day after more than 100 workers of an apparel manufacturing unit in the Brandix Special Economic Zone at Atchyutapuram in Andhra Pradesh were hospitalised following a gas leak.

Experts, prima facie, said a gas called chlorpyrifos leaked from the factory, causing 121 people to fall sick, sources told ABP News.


Seeds Intimate Apparel India Private Ltd said in a statement that the "affected associates" were in a stable condition following Tuesday night’s incident. The company has been closed till the time investigation concludes.


Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered a high-level committee probe into the incident. The committee will find out the cause and steps to be taken to plug such incidents in the future. The committee will also check for violations of safety standards in the industry.


It was a second such incident in two months in Andhra Pradesh. On June 3, more than 300 women workers fell unconscious after complaining of eyesore, nausea and vomiting following gas leak in the same Brandix Special Economic Zone.
