New Delhi: After the roof collapse incident in Gurugram's housing society, police has registered a case of negligence against the builder.

On Thursday evening, the roof of an apartment in Chintels Paradiso housing complex in Sector 109 came down triggering ceiling of multiple floors under it to collapse.

The builder of the society Ashok Soloman has been booked by the Gurugram police under sections 304a and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The FIR was filed by Rajesh Bhardwaj, husband of the deceased Ekta Bhardwaj (31) who was living on the second floor of Tower D of the housing complex. In his FIR, Bhardwaj has alleged negligence and use of sub-standard construction work by the Chintel group and its contractor that caused the roof to collapse.

"On Thursday evening, I received a call from my son informing me that the ceiling of some floors of the tower had collapsed, and, in the incident, my wife suffered injuries and passed away around 7 pm. I came home from office and saw the ceiling of the 6th and 7th floors had collapsed. Rescue and police teams were working on the spot and after removal of debris, my wife's body was recovered and taken to the hospital," said Rajesh Bhardwaj to news agency ANI.

Two people have been confirmed dead in the incident while several others are feared trapped. Rescue operations have been continued by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for close to 15 hours.
