Gurugram Namaz Controversy: Residents of Gurugram have been at loggerheads over conducting prayers in the open for some time now. Govardhan Puja was performed on Friday in Sector 12, at the same place where Muslims requested to offer their Friday prayers. This matter has now taken a political turn. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has reacted to this incident where authorities allowed carrying out of a 'Pooja' in public places but did not provide permission to Muslims conducting their Friday prayers. He has called it "a act of hatred" directed at Muslims.
"This is an act of hatred directed at Muslims":
Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted, "The protest against Friday prayers in Gurugram is a perfect example of how radical these "protesters" have become. This is an 'act of hatred' directed towards Muslims. How is offering Namaz for 15-20 minutes once a week going to hurt anyone in any way?"
Namaz was refused but Pooja wasn't:
Govardhan Puja was organized on Friday in Gurugram. This was organized in the same public park in Sector-12 where Friday prayers are normally offered by Muslims. The park was secured by Police during the event. BJP leader Kapil Mishra, who was also a part of this event, said that public roads are not the right place to have this kind of an event.
Both 'Namaz' and 'Pooja' were done peacefully:
Gurugram Police had earler held a meeting with both the parties regarding carrying out Namaz and Puja at the same venue. Police Forces were also on high alert when both Hindus and Muslims were offering their prayers. According to the police officials, everything was done peacefully and no adverse incident was reported."
