New Delhi: A four-storey under-construction building collapsed in Ullawas Village of Gurugram in Delhi NCR, triggering a furore among local people. The mishap took place in the wee hours of Thursday.

A sudden roaring noise woke up nearby residents as early as 5:15 am in the morning who rushed out of their houses to find a four-storey  building caved in to ruins.  Five to six people are feared trapped inside the debris.

Local people alerted police and fire department immediately after which rescue teams reached the spot and started the rescue operations. Meanwhile, a team of  NDRF has also reached the spot to provide help in the rescue process.

A number of JCB machines are being used to clear off the debris but with a lot of care, as people are suspected to be trapped inside.

As per the locals and fire authorities, lintel work for the fourth floor was done on Wednesday night, which caused the mishap. The building was earlier a three storey building.  The building was occupied by some people who lived there on rent. The lintel for the fourth floor was done last night, but due to the cold weather, it could not get fixed properly and led to the collapse of the building.
