Consequently, a revised result sheet was issued, rectifying the scores to 191 out of 200 in Gujarati and 190 out of 200 in Mathematics, while maintaining the scores for other subjects unchanged.
In response, district education authorities have launched an inquiry to ascertain the root cause of the error and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
UP Students Write 'Jai Shri Ram' On Answer Sheets
Students from the Pharmacy department of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in Jaunpur, UP have been passing their college exams by writing 'Jai Shri Ram' on their answer sheets. Adding to this, they also found writing the names of cricketers in their copy.
The issue purported when copies were obtained under the Right to Information Act. Allegations have claimed that students were passed by charging facilitation fees. As soon as the matter turned serious, the university administration initiated an investigation.
Earlier, some teachers from the Pharmacy Institute of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University were also caught in irregularities. A student leader, Divyanshu Singh, had lodged complaints to the Chancellor as well as the Prime Minister, alleging that some university officials had passed mediocre students by awarding them high marks. Upon re-evaluation following the complaint, significant discrepancies were found in the marks awarded to students.
Subsequently, the complainant requested the examination copies of several students under the Right to Information Act, revealing that phrases like 'Jai Shri Ram', 'Jai Hanuman', and various cricketers' names were written on the answer sheets.
Zero marks were given when the examination copies were re-evaluated by external examiners following the student's complaint.
Later, The Vice-Chancellor held a meeting with the examination committee. Amid the meeting, two faculty members from the B Pharma department were accused.
