New Delhi: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah advised young people on Sunday not to be swayed by the Congress's campaigns and promises, claiming that doing so will jeopardise Gujarat's growth, news agency IANS reported.

"During Congress rule, dropout rate in primary schools was 37 per cent, curfew used to remain imposed in Ahmedabad city for 200 days in a year and communal riots were common," Shah stated while drawing a sharp contrast between the state's Congress and BJP leadership.

"However, the BJP-led governments at the state and the Centre have put the state on path of development, now the dropout rate is almost zero, curfew has become a thing of past, if you take general knowledge test of teenager or youth who is born post 2002, he will not know what curfew is," the Home Minister was quoted by IANS in its report.

When elections approach, Congressmen have a history of reaching out to the public and making lofty promises, but they lack vision, determination, and dedication, according to him.

Following the inauguration of smart schools, Shah praised the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the elected office bearers for establishing smart schools and their dedication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's New Education Policy.

The four smart schools that Shah inaugurated on Sunday were built with a Rs 9.50 crore investment, IANS reported.

3,200 kids will benefit from these institutions. These four schools bring Ahmedabad's total number of smart schools to 23.

At about 7 p.m., the Home Minister will take part in the Curtain Razor of the 36th National Games-2022 and the Closing Ceremony of the 11th Khel Mahakumbh at TransStadia, Kankaria.

From September 27 to October 10, Gujarat will host the 36th National Games, officially known as National Games Gujarat 2022. The National Games will begin with a ceremony at the PM Modi stadium in Motera. As part of the festival, 36 various games will be held in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, and Bhavnagar.

Notably, the previous National Games were held in Kerala in 2015. The games are being held after a seven-year hiatus for a variety of reasons, including the pandemic. The National Games' symbol depicts Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's Statue of Unity and the Asiatic Lion of Gir.
