Over the last few days, police in Gujarat have found more than 200 packets of narcotics as they washed up on the coast. A few days ago, police in Kachchh also recovered abandoned packets containing methamphetamine, according to the PTI report.
Police say these packets containing narcotic substances were washed ashore by waves due to favourable wind conditions after they were possibly dumped by smugglers in the deep sea over the fear of being caught, the report said.
After the latest seizures, police have registered cases against unidentified persons under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The Devbhumi Dwarka police on Sunday said as many as 115 packets containing 124 kg charas valued at Rs 62 crore were found washed up on the seacoast in Kachchh over 10 days, PTI reported.
