Ahmedabad: We all know that Gujarat is a dry state, but does the conditions apply for all? Certainly not! This news might come to you as a shocker as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Gujarat threw a birthday party on Friday where he was showered with booze by his friends and supporters. The video from the party has gone viral on social media as many criticised the saffron party for such brazen act. The leader who celebrated his birthday is said to be Kawan Patel and is BJP's Mahisagar district convener. Watch the video here: In the viral video, Kawan Patel is seen cutting a huge cake with a sword that is placed on the bonnet of a car. While he starts cutting his birthday cake, his friends open alcohol bottles and start spraying it on him and later drink it. Soon after the video went viral on social media, Police finally took cognizance of the incident and registered an FIR. As per reports, Police have also arrested a few people in connection with violating law and order. Despite state government issuing advisories to contain the spread of the virus and urging people not to gather in large numbers, a leader from the ruling party orgnanised such event. Gujarat on Friday reported its highest single-day spike of 875 new COVID-19 cases which pushed its overall count to 40,155. The death toll in the state reached 2,024 with 14 more people succumbing to the virus.
