New Delhi: The family of slain Greater Noida resident Gaurav Chandel has alleged negligence on the part of Gr Noida Police which hasn’t yet made any arrests in the case, even after four days. They have accused the police of wasting the time that could have been utilised to save the victim's life.

Chandel’s wife has also demanded a CBI probe in the matter.

Additional Director General of Police Prashant Kumar has said that the Inspector General of Police is looking after the investigation.

After finding Gaurav’s body the police had registered a case of murder and loot against unknown persons and launched investigation.

Chandel, a  resident of Greater Noida was murdered after being robbed by some unidentified persons while he was returning home.

The body of the man was found on Tuesday morning near Sector-123 at his home. He used to work at a private firm in Gurugram.

Chandel's body was found on a service road near Hidon Vihar stadium around 4.15 am with injuries on his head, said police, adding his car, an SUV, was missing from the spot.

"Chandel worked for a private firm in Gurgaon and was returning home late last night when the incident took place," a police spokesperson said.

According to Chandel's family members, he had called up home around 10.55 pm and told them he was at Parthala Chowk and would reach home in five minutes.

"But he did not reach home even after 45 minutes and calls made on his mobile phone went unanswered after which his wife asked some of their neighbours to help trace him," a family source said.

The family and neighbours first approached a police post at Cleo County and then reached Bisrakh police station, where they were met with a "dilly-dallying" response from officials, the source said.

The family and neighbours thereafter left the police station to look for Chandel and finally were able to find his body around 4.15 am while his car and other belongings were missing.

Gautam Buddh Nagar's Senior Superintendent of Police Vaibhav Krishna said investigation has been taken up to track the culprits and the case would be worked out soon.

On the alleged police laxity, Krishna said, "We have got a written complaint from the family and an inquiry has been ordered. Action would be ensured against whoever is found guilty."
