An FIR has been registered on a 29-year old man who allegedly abducted a traffic police personnel on duty. The incident took place in Greater Noida, UP, after Sachin Rawal, accused in this case, was asked to show documents of the car he was driving by the traffic police constable.

The officials said that the car was suspected to be stolen and thus the police constable on duty wanted to check the documents. Rawal, on the pretense of showing the documents, asked the police officer to step inside the car and then was forcibly taken on a 10-km long drive. The accused later dumped the traffic police constable near a police station.

“Accused Sachin Rawal had stolen the Maruti Swift Dzire from a showroom in Gurgaon, Haryana two years ago on the pretext of taking the car out on a test drive,” a police spokesperson told PTI.

The police started a vehicle checking campaign in Surajpur where the accused's car was suspected to have been stolen, as per the police inputs. “Rawal, who lives in Ghodi Bacheda village in Greater Noida, had put on a forged number plate on his car, the number of which was same as that of a car belonging to a resident of his village,” the police official said.
