Greater Noida: In a major mishap, at least eight people died and 30 others were injured in a severe bus accident on Delhi NCR’s Yamuna Expressway in Greater Noida on Friday morning. The accident happened at around 5 am after a double-decker bus full of passengers rammed into a truck on the expressway. The Greater Noida-bound bus was coming from Agra and was packed with passengers, stated an early report. The incident happened in Rabupura Thana area, 29 km ahead of the Yamuna Expressway Zero Point. It is being said that the bus driver lost control after the vehicle's brake failed and this was when it rammed into a truck.
As per initial reports, the injured travellers were rushed to nearby hospital as some of them are said to be in critical situation. All the injured have been admitted to Jewar's Kailash Hospital by the police and bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The accident spot falls under Greater Noida Rabupura Police Station area. According to news agency PTI, officials in Lucknow said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed Gautam Buddh Nagar police and administration chiefs to expedite assistance to the victims.
"The bus was on its way to Noida from Agra. The incident took place under Rabupura police station limits around 5 am. The bus belongs to Auraiya depot. Eight people were killed and 20 injured in the incident," police said in a statement.
This is the second accident on the Yamuna Expressway this week. On Monday, a woman was killed in another accident on the killer highway. Last month, as many as seven people died and four were seriously injured on the Yamuna Expressway when an ambulance collided with a car.
