Former WWE wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, also known as The Great Khali, stroked a controversy on Tuesday after a purported video of him assaulting a staff of a toll plaza in Punjab’s Ludhiana went viral on social media. In the video, a toll plaza staff could be heard accusing the wrestler of 'slapping’ one of their colleagues when he was asked to show his identity card. 


However, the former WWE star rejected the accusations and claimed that the toll plaza employees misbehaved with him. 


In the viral video footage, Khali can be heard arguing with some of the employees of the Ladhowal toll plaza. However, the clip does not show him hitting anyone.

According to reports, the incident took place at Ladhowal on Panipat-Jalandhar national highway on Monday when the wrestler was travelling in his car to Karnal via Ludhiana. In the car, Khali was accompanied by few other people. 


Punjab Police informed that was on his way to Karnal, Haryana from Jalandhar when the incident took place, adding that no complaint was lodged by either of the two sides.


"Yesterday, toll plaza employees misbehaved with me and asked me to get down from the vehicle for getting a picture clicked with all of them and only then would they allow the vehicle to go," news agency PTI quoted Khali as saying.


The wrestler also demanded contractor of the toll plaza must take action against the erring employees so that they do not misbehave with any other celebrity, further accusing employees of Ladhowal toll plaza of "blackmailing" him. 


The video also shows a toll plaza employee could be heard asking the former wrestler why he slapped his colleague when an identity proof was sought from him. "You were asked to show your ID card, show the ID card, the toll employee tells Rana to which he replies, "You are blackmailing me." The employee then says,  We are not blackmailing you. Why did you slap him? Show the ID card if you have it.


"I do not have an ID card," Khali can be heard saying in the footage. Meanwhile, some media reports stated that the WWE star is planning to take an action on the staff members involved.


After the incident, toll plaza officials even placed a barricade ahead of Khali's car to stop him from leaving the spot. However, the wrestlet got out of his vehicle pushed it away despite officials trying to stop him from doing so. 


Police then intervened and sought responses from both the sides.
