The Republic Day parade is always an attraction for the people of India. This year, on January 26, 75 aircraft will be flying over Rajpath as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, said IAF PRO Wing Commander Indranil Nandi.

Five Rafale jets would be flying in a Vinaash formation. For the first time Navy's MiG29K and P8I aircraft will also participate.

"The grandest flypast ever to take place over Rajpath during the Republic Day parade with 75 aircraft including the planes from IAF, Army, & the Navy. This is in line with the Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav celebrations," said Air Force PRO Wing Commander Indranil Nandi to ANI.

"Five Rafale to fly over the Rajpath in the Vinaash formation. Navy’s MiG29K and P-8I surveillance aircraft will fly in the Varuna formation. 17 Jaguar fighter aircraft will fly in the shape of 75 to celebrate Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav," he added.

Due to the Covid situation in the national capital, around 24,000 people will be allowed to attend the Republic Day parade this year, sources in the defense establishment told PTI on Saturday.

The sources added that roughly 1.25 lakh people were allowed to attend the parade in 2020 before the pandemic ravaged India.

The Republic Day festivities will now commence on January 23 rather than January 24 in order to accommodate Subhas Chandra Bose's birth anniversary
