New Delhi: A district magistrate of Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar has been criticised by netizens over his comments to flood victims in which he said the government wasn't running a Zomato service that would provide food at home.


Heavy rains have lashed several parts of the state in the past few days including the Ambedkar Nagar district causing severe floods due to the overflowing Ghaghara River in the region. In the viral video, district magistrate (DM) Samuel Pal N could be heard tellingflood victims about the relief camp being in the area. "There is an arrangement to stay here. We will give you chlorine tablets. If you are facing any problems, the doctor will come and see you here. That is the purpose of a flood relief camp," said the IAS officer.

The IAS officer, who informed people about the purpose of the relief camp, went on to draw criticism over his comments in the purported video for saying, "Should we send you food if you are staying at home? The government is not running a Zomato service".


Several users expressed their ire over the remarks of the officer.












Another user asked him to help victims who are already suffering owing to floods.

Around 1,300 villages in 18 districts of the state have been affected by floods due to heavy rainfall since Monday.
