New Delhi: Government of Goa has decided to relax restrictions imposed due to second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. Under this reopening process, many tourist attractions in Goa are set to reopen today. Tourists from all over the country and the world generally come to Goa between October and May, making it the biggest tourist season in Goa.

For those planning to welcome the New Year on the beautiful beaches in Goa, the Goa government's September 19 order has brought a ray of hope. The state government is gradually opening tourist-attracting facilities and sites. The government has approved reopening of all casinos and ships parked on the banks of the Mandvi river from today.

Employees and customers who have been fully vaccinated for 15 days and above would be the only ones allowed to enter these sites. They also need to present a negative report for an RT-PCR test done within 72 hours of entering. Spas and Massage Parlours are also scheduled to open, with the same restrictions.

River Cruises, Water Parks and Entertainment Parks could be opened, but with a 50% capacity limit. Cinema halls can also be opened, with the same 50% occupance limit.

A large part of Goa's economy depends on the tourism industry. For the past year and a half, the state's economy has come to a standstill due to COVID-19 restrictions. The state government has now started to reopen, keeping in mind the declining COVID-19 case numbers in the nation.

Winters, especially around the New Year, attract tourists from all over the nation and the world, making Goa quite busy during this time. Sunburn, an electronic dance festival, is also held in Goa every year. However, no decision has been made by its organizers until now.
