Goa Elections 2022: Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will be contesting the 2022 Goa Assembly Elections together in an alliance. Sena's Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Raut said that the party will have a discussion on seat-sharing with NCP on Tuesday.

Congress, the alliance partner in Maharashtra, will fight the election alone. Raut said that the 'Congress has its own compulsions' with seat-sharing in Goa.

"Shiv Sena and NCP will contest together in Goa assembly elections, there will be a discussion on seat sharing on 18th. NCP's senior leader Praful Patel will discuss seat-sharing in Goa on January 18," Raut said.

The seat-sharing formula will be clear on Tuesday. "Our list of candidates is ready. The seat-sharing will be discussed on 18th January and after that, we will announce the list of candidates," Sanjay Raut added.

Goa Assembly Election will be conducted in one phase, i.e. in the second phase of the Assembly Elections 2022. The date of polling in Goa is February 14, 2021.

In the 2017 Elections, the Congress had won 17 seats while BJP had won 13 seats, while the others had won 10 seats in a 40-member strong Goa Vidhan Sabha.

"In Maharashtra, we are in government with NCP and Congress, but in Goa, seat-sharing is not possible with Congress. They (Congress) will also have some compulsions, we will also have some compulsions," Raut said.

Raut attacked the present BJP government in the state. He said, "These are the people who are the land mafia, corrupt, drug mafias, in Goa who work to form the government there. If this is to change in Goa, then the common man among us must be elected by the people of Goa," Raut concluded.
