A luxury cruiser named MV Ganga Vilas will sail on a historic journey on Friday through some of India's most renowned cultural and religious sites. It will be the world's longest luxury river cruise. It will start from Varanasi where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag it off on January 13, the cruise will reach its final destination Dibrugarh, Assam on March 1. The cruise is planned for around 50 tourist spots including a national park, and world heritage sites.
The cost per day for one person on the MV Ganga Vilas is $300, and for a 51-day journey, it will cost $1,53,000 or about Rs 12.59 lakh per person, as quoted by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal. This fare is the same for both Indians and foreigners.
