Around 50 ambulances along with adequate medical staff will be kept ready for any medical emergency at hotels, airports and the main Group of 20 (G20) Summit venue ‘Bharat Mandapam’, officials have said. They further said that arrangements have been made at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RML) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for any exigency, PTI reported.
“Hospitals like RML and AIIMS will be ready for any contingency along with 50 ambulances which will be deployed near the hotels, airport and G20 venue,” ANI quoted an official as saying.
As per the report, there will be dedicated teams of medical staff available round-the-clock to cater for any medical assistance required for the delegates. A state-of-the-art medical emergency facility with ICU services has been set up within the premises of the Bharat Mandapam (G20 Summit venue) to attend to any emergency, reported PTI.
Health officers, including specialist doctors and nurses, chosen from various public hospitals will be deployed there, the sources said.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is likely to take stock of the preparations for the G20 Summit this week.
The G20 summit will be held in Delhi on September 9 and 10.
Last week, the Delhi police authorities announced that they have chalked out a detailed traffic plan for the September G20 summit to ensure smooth vehicular movement in Delhi during the upcoming 18th Heads of State and Government Summit of the G20.
"Arrangements were made for railway services, bus services, emergency and essential services. Essential services won't be affected anywhere in the national capital," Surender Singh Yadav, Special CP (Traffic) told ANI.
The Delhi Traffic Police is taking full vigilance. There will be heavy traffic diversions in all areas including the NDMC area, so that the ambulance services are not affected, said police. Earlier, on August 21, Delhi traffic police conducted a mock drill exercise on major roads connecting Pragati Maidan - the main venue of the summit, with various hotels in the City, to review restrictions and diversions arrangements.
G20 was founded in 1999 after the Asian financial crisis as a forum for Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors to discuss global economic and financial issues. It was upgraded to the level of Heads of State or Government in the wake of the global economic and financial crisis of 2007, and, in 2009, was designated the "premier forum for international economic cooperation".
