New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the G-20 Summit tomorrow, October 12. Issues relating to the Afghanistan crisis would be discussed in this summit.
Upon invitation by the Italian President, PM Modi would be a part of this conference via video link. The G-20 Extraordinary Leaders' Conference is being convened by the G20 Italian Presidency.
Many important issues related to the Afghanistan crisis would be discussed in this meeting between the G20 countries. Topics such as human needs, access to basic services, and livelihood have been included in the meeting agenda. There will also be talks on security, the fight against terrorism, mobility, migration, and human rights.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier attended special SCO and CSTO meetings to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan.
During this, PM Modi had put forward India's side regarding the recent developments in Afghanistan. He said that neighboring countries like India would be most impacted by this. PM Modi had emphasized the need for regional focus and cooperation in view of the current situation in Afghanistan.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar attended the G-20 meeting on Afghanistan while being a part of the UN General Assembly in New York.
This meeting is aimed at building international consensus and discussing the worsening humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. This G20 meeting was first announced by Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi on September 29.
