People all around the world celebrate this day to profess and inculcate the importance of Yoga and the importance of staying fit. It is seen as a unifying force, according to the PM. “The way to lead a calm, creative & content life is Yoga. It can show the way in defeating tensions and mindless anxiety. Instead of dividing, Yoga unites. Instead of further animosity, Yoga assimilates. Instead of increasing suffering, Yoga heals” said the PM expressing his views on Yoga while addressing the people at Dehradun.

Following suit, Governor of Maharashtra, C. Vidyasagar Rao, celebrated it in Raj Bhawan.
In Rajasthan, Yoga guru, Baba Ramdev, along with Acharya Balkrishna and CM Vasundhara Raje came together along with many other to celebrate this day.
“Yoga advocates purity of mind, speech and body, contentment, acceptance of others, perseverance, self study, self reflection, contemplation of the Supreme Being. Yoga is a holistic approach to well being. It has physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions,” said Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu at the Bandra Reclamation Sealink Promenade in Mumbai.

With the PM being in Dehradun, Delhi LG Anil Baijal and Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha perform yoga at Rajpath, New Delhi. Even Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore and Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari celebrated it in Delhi.
UP CM Yogi Adityanath also took part in the celebrations along with Home Minister Rajnath Singh at Raj Bhawan in Lucknow.
The naval fraternity has come out in full support of the day. Admiral Sunil Lanba CNS celebrated this day at New Delhi to commemorate International Day of Yoga. Naval command staff and the submarine staff on either side of the peninsula, eastern and western, perform this while on board of the INS Jyothi off Vishakhapatnam and INS Jamuna off Kochi, respectively.
Innovation is always welcomed in any field and Yoga Day 2018 manifested the same. ITBP jawans stood out of the crowd by performing ‘River Yoga’ in the Digaru River in Lohitpur Arunachal Pradesh.
They even practice it regularly at high altitudes which help them to stay fit and maintain their health, like in places like Ladakh. They even performed at 13,200 feet near Rohtang Pass.
