New Delhi: Former President and Congress stalwart Pranab Mukherjee's acceptance of RSS's invitation to address its workers at a function next month has created a flutter in the party camp. The next in line to be invited by the sangh parivar is former RBI chief Raghuram Rajan.

The VHP has invited Rajan to speak at the World Hindu Congress, which will be held in Chicago in September this year to commemorate 125 years of Swami Vivekananda’s historic address to the Parliament of World Religions.

VHP is a part of the sangh parivar that includes the RSS and other pro-Hindu outfits.  The RSS was highly critical of Rajan's policies while he was the RBI governor. RSS supremo Mohan Bhagwat is also likely to be part of the forum.

Rajan after completing his term in September 2016, returned to pursue his academic career at the University of Chicago

According to a newspaper report, others who have been invited are Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Hollywood star Richard Gere and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard.

In April this year, Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje was elected the new President of VHP. He had replaced firebrand leader Pravin Togadia.
