Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique resigned from Congress on Thursday. Siddique took to social media platform X and informed about his resignation from the grand old party, saying that his journey with the Congress, which lasted 48 years, was significant.

"I joined the Indian National Congress party as a young teenager and it has been a significant journey lasting 48 years. Today I resign from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress Party @INCIndia with immediate effect. There’s a lot I would have liked to express but as they say some things are better left unsaid. I thank everyone who has been a part of this journey," Baba Siddique said on X.

Siddique, however, has not indicated his future plans. According to news agency IANS, there’s speculation in political circles that he may throw in his lot with the Nationalist Congress Party led by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.
