New Delhi: Several leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal joined the BJP here on Monday, including Amanjot Kaur Ramuwalia daughter of former Union minister Balwant Singh Ramuwalia.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, BJP General Secretary and in-charge of Punjab Dushyant Gautam, and National General Secretary Tarun Chugh were present at the party headquarters in the capital.
Speaking on the occasion, Shekhawat said that the decision of the leaders to join the BJP is an indication of people's selection in Punjab. He said, "We all will try together to get a result in favor of BJP in Punjab elections." He alleged that some political parties want to come to power in Punjab in the name of farmers, with guns on their shoulders.
Welcoming all the leaders who joined the BJP, Gautam said that the people of Punjab are deeply saddened by the way some political parties are trying to misuse the Constitution under the guise of farmers' agitation. Hence the people of Punjab look up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for peace in the state.
