Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Sunday said in a statement that the Congress government in Rajasthan led by Ashok Gehlot as chief minister has carried out numerous new initiatives and schemes that have had a significant impact on the people.
"This has given the state a leadership position in governance in our country. The Bharat Jodo Yatra in Rajasthan was an outstanding success made possible by the dedication and determination of the party organisation in the state," he said.
"Later in the year, the Congress will seek a renewed mandate from the people on the strength of these landmark achievements and the collective efforts of our organisation," Ramesh said.
Meanwhile, following the announcement of a day-long fast by former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot to demand action from Chief Minister Gehlot regarding alleged corruption during the BJP's rule in the state, the party made the assertion.
The statement came after Pilot fired a fresh salvo at his bete noire, putting pressure on the central leadership to solve problems before the end-of-year elections.
"The Gehlot government did not take any action against corruption under the previous Vasundhara Raje government." We had promised an investigation into the Rs 45,000 crore mines scam when we were in opposition,'' Pilot said at a press conference at his Jaipur home, announcing his hunger strike on Tuesday.
On Thursday, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge addressed a joint press conference of opposition leaders at the Constitution Club and accused the Modi administration of not upholding democratic principles and of disrupting Parliament to deflect attention from the opposition's demand for an investigation into the Adani scandal by a joint parliamentary committee (JPC).
