It is learned that Pandey is a real estate businessmen in Lucknow and is heard in the visuals yelling “I am from Lucknow....” Three of his friends including two women were seen in the BMW vehicle that he drove while leaving the hotel complex. The women apparently are foreign nationals and were also heard hurling expletives at the victim.
ABP News has learned that the altercation between him and the couple began after he was found to be inside the ladies washroom. It is not unknown whether he was carrying his pistol that went unchecked into the hotel. It is also not known whether he was inebriated at the time of the incident.
The Delhi Police has taken a serious note of the incident and registered a case under the Arms Act at the RK Puram Police Station. Pandey has been called to join investigations here or a police team will be dispatched to Lucknow to bring him. A manhunt is also lodged to trace him in the national capital
“A complaint from Assistant Security Manager Hyatt Regency Hotel, R K Puram has been received regarding incident that occurred on the intervening night of 13/14 Oct 2018. A male is seen brandishing a weapon in the footage. Accordingly a case U/S 25/27 Arms Act has been registered. Efforts are on to identify the person. Legal action is being taken as per law,” said a police statement.
Speaking to ABP News over the incident, the accused's uncle Pawan Pandey, defended him saying, "I have spoken to Ashish. He had no intentions to kill as it is being projected. In fact Ashish was being threatened by those seen in the video."
Expressing outrage over the incident, Robert Vadra, brother-in-law of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, told ABP News that he was present in the hotel hours before the incident took place. "I was in the hotel for lunch on Saturday afternoon. There's no fear of law and incidents like these malign the reputation of our country. Is this how a national capital should be? I fear for the women and children of Delhi."
