Delhi: Two FIRs were registered on Tuesday against unknown persons over attacks on a policeman and an auto driver in the national capital yesterday. Constable Karan Yadav posted at Mehrauli police station was roughed up by a group of lawyers outside Saket court on Monday. In a video that quickly went viral on social, lawyers were seen assaulting the policeman who was riding a bike. One of the lawyers was also seen slapping the policeman.

When constable Yadav tried to escape the wrath, the lawyer also hit his bike with his helmet.

According to a newspaper, Yadav, had visited the Saket court to execute a court order and was returning when he was stopped by a group of lawyers and attacked. He later lodged a complaint at Saket police station.

Lawyers went on a rampage on Monday at several other parts of the city attacking auto drivers and bikers.

Meanwhile, thousands of police personnel protested outside the Police Headquarters on Tuesday to demand action against the lawyers involved in an attack on their colleagues.

Lawyers and policemen clashed over a parking dispute led to at least 20 security personnel and several advocates being injured at Tis Hazari court on Saturday.

As the protest swelled up leading to unprecedented scenes, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik came out of his office to assure them that their concerns will be addressed and urged them to return to their duty points.

The policemen held placards with slogans such as "We are human in police uniforms", "We are not punching bags" and "Protectors Need Protection".

"Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal went to meet injured lawyers but did not meet our policemen who were also injured in the incident. Isn't it unfair to us," said a protestor.
