An FIR has been filed against BJP IT department head Amit Malviya in Karnataka over a tweet on Rahul Gandhi under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

According to ANI, FIR has been filed against BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya under sections 153A 120b 505(2), 34 of IPC in Bengaluru's High Grounds PS for his tweet against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, following a complaint from Congress's Ramesh Babu.

The complaint has been filed by Ramesh Babu, Co-chairman of communication, Congress. The complaint cites that Amit Malviya tweeted a video showing a link between Rahul Gandhi, and Congress with foreign international media. The complaint states that the video showed hate against India and Hindu culture and that Congress supports only minorities.

Ramesh Babu said that Rahul Gandhi's speeches have also been altered and alleged that BJP wants to divide society and spread hatred within society.

Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge reacted to the FIR and said, "Whenever BJP bears the burnt of law, they cry. They have a problem following the law of the land. I want to ask the BJP which part of the FIR has been filed with a mala fide intention. We have done it after taking legal opinion."

Quoting his statement, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya said, "The FIR filed against Sri @amitmalviya is politically motivated. Plain and simple."

"Case is registered under 153A and 505(2) of IPC for his alleged statement against Rahul Gandhi. Both the above sections deals with promoting enmity between groups.  So, what is Rahul Gandhi? An individual or a group or a class? We will challenge this in the court & ensure justice," he said in a tweet.
