New Delhi: Taking another swipe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, poll strategist Prashant Kishor on Saturday said that the state may have seen several alliances come and go but the link between Kumar and the chief ministerial post is exemplary.
“We've seen many alliances being made and broken in Bihar... only one link doesn't break- between CM chair and Nitish Kumar, be it any alliance. It's exemplary; can be only done by him... Fevicol should make him their brand ambassador,” news agency ANI quoted Kishor as saying.
He further took a dig at the CM saying that Kumar’s efforts to unite the Opposition will go in vain because there is a need for a ‘credible face’ and a ‘mass movement’ for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“He (Bihar CM Nitish Kumar) just left BJP a month ago & is meeting leaders & parties in opposition to BJP, but doing that won't make much of a difference. We need a credible face for that, public faith, workforce & mass movement (for 2024 polls),” Kishor said.
Talking about Kumar’s displeasure with him, Kishor further said, “Nitish Ji isn't angry with me, it's his way of speaking. I've a kindred relation with him. Who'll take his talks seriously? He was with BJP a month ago.”
Meanwhile, ever since Nitish Kumar took oath as the Bihar Chief Minister for the eighth time last month after breaking ties with the BJP, speculations have been rife over whether he is aiming for the Prime Ministerial post.
After his recent visit to the national capital, his alliance partner the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) said that they believe he is the most suitable leader for the PM post, as reported by news agency IANS.
Mritunjay Tiwari, the national spokesperson of the RJD, as quoted by IANS said, "Nitish Kumar of the JD(U) has the longest parliamentary life than any other leader. He is an experienced leader who knows how to govern the country. He has a clean political and socialist image and other leaders are nowhere near to him when we talk about quality leadership."
He further said that the parliamentary life of PM Modi is shorter than that of Kumar and the latter's socialist image makes the voters comfortable. Taking potshots at the PM for failing the people over the last eight years, Tiwari said that this factor could also act against the Prime Minister.
