Background

Welcome to the ABP LIVE live blog for Tuesday, January 26, 2021: India is celebrating its 72nd Republic Day. The day signifies the making of our Constitution and President Ram Nath Kovind will unfurl the National Flag at Rajpath shortly. Celebrations have begun across the country as Chief Ministers of various states have hoisted the tricolour. Soldiers at the border have also unfurled the flag.

Farmers protesting at Delhi borders over the Centre's farm laws are all geared up to carry out a tractor march on Republic Day. The farmers' union reached an agreement with the Delhi Police on Sunday to carry out the tractor march peacefully.

Farmers at Delhi's three protest sites -- Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur border points will also take out a massive tractor rally against the farm laws. The routes will cover over 100 kilometres of distance in the national capital.

Celebrations at Rajpath will be different this year due to the Covid 19 pandemic. No chief guest will be seen at Rajpath. It will be the first ever time when Rafale fighter jets will be taking part in the Republic Day flypast. A total of 38 IAF aircraft, include Rafale, and four planes of the Indian Army will participate in the flypast on Tuesday.
