The Uddhav Thackeray led Maha Vikas Agadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra on Saturday, November 28, completed its one year in governance. The tri-party alliance includes Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and the Congress.

Shiva Sena, a former ally of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Maharashtra Assembly elections that were held last year in 2019, won 57 seats while the BJP secured 105 seats. The pre-poll alliance was later broken, on the dispute of the chief minister post between both the parties. Calling for a break in the 25-year old alliance, Uddhav Thackeray led Shiva Sena, joined hands with Sharad Pawar-led NCP which secured 54 seats, and the Congress which bagged 44 seats.

Taking a dig at the MVA, former CM of the state and leader of opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Devendra Fadanvis at a press conference on Saturday, said that the alliance in the state is a total failure.

Targeting CM Uddhav Thackeray, the former CM told the media, that despite holding a Constitutional post, he went about 'threatening the people' especially his political opponents.

Fadanvis also brought forward the issue of Republic TV Editor Arnab Goswami and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, stating that the BJP doesn't fully endorse their views, but at the same time they don't like them being 'hounded' by the MVA government.

“The two recent court rulings in the Arnab Goswami and Kangana Ranaut cases clearly reflect that there is a breakdown of the Constitutional machinery and abuse of power,” he told the media.

The leader of the opposition further targeting the Thackeray-led coalition said the government has ignored the plight of the farmers in the state and failing on the Maratha reservation issue.

'The Thackeray government has failed in providing financial assistance to farmers. The government has completely ignored their plight. Cotton, soybean crops got destroyed due to pest attack, but no help was provided to farmers,' he said.

'This government has miserably failed in Maratha reservation as well,' Fadanvis further alleged.
