New Delhi: The Shiv Sena has targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party and Eknath Shinde after the latter turned rebel and was successful in toppling the Maha Vikas Aghadi government and becoming Maharashtra Chief Minister himself. In an editorial in its mouthpiece ‘Saamna’, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party mocked Fadnavis for not being appointed as the chief minister of Maharashtra.
The editorial loosely translates that Eknath Shinde has been made the Chief Minister and Fadnavis has been given a post in the cabinet which came as a "real shocker" for the latter. It was further written that Uddhav Thackeray became free after resigning from the post of chief minister and legislator. The Maha Vikas Aghadi government that was established for five years came to an end in two and a half years not because of Nationalist Congress Party or Congress. Thackeray had at the time of resignation said that his own people betrayed him, the editorial added.
Earlier too the Shiv Sena mouthpiece had cornered Fadnavis saying that his taking oath as deputy chief minister was a "shocking climax" to the "drama" that created political instability in the state.
In an editorial in its mouthpiece 'Saamana', the Shiv Sena mentioned that Fadnavis's act of becoming deputy chief minister instead of chief minister is now being defended as an instance of his "big heart" and "adherence to the party's directives", news agency PTI reported.
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had earlier said that had senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah kept his word about having a Sena leader as CM for 2.5 years, there would have been a BJP chief minister in the state now. "I had told Amit Shah earlier as well that there should be a Shiv Sena CM for 2.5 years (during Shiv Sena-BJP alliance). Had they done this earlier, there would've been no Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)," Uddhav Thackeray said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
