Ex-MLA Patnam Reddy Claims Attack On Telangana Officials Was Directed By KTR: Police
According to the police remand report, confessions from other arrested individuals identified Reddy as “chief conspirator” who allegedly devised and encouraged attack to “destabilise the government.”
Telangana Police alleged on Wednesday that former BRS MLA Patnam Narender Reddy, who was arrested following an attack on district officials in Vikarabad during a public hearing on land acquisition, has confessed that the incident was orchestrated under the direction of the party’s Working President, KT Rama Rao, among others.
Reddy has been charged with conspiracy and abetment, and is named as the main accused in the case. According to the police remand report, confessions from other arrested individuals identified Reddy as the “chief conspirator” who allegedly devised and encouraged the attack to “destabilize the government.”
Police detained Reddy at his residence and transported him to a station in Parigi town, bringing the total arrests in connection with the November 11 incident to 21. The clash in Lagacharla village, Dudyala mandal, involved villagers protesting land acquisition for pharmaceutical companies.
During his court appearance, Reddy was remanded to judicial custody. Police stated in their report that Reddy confessed to organizing the incident to harm the government’s image, gain political advantage, and undermine the Telangana administration under instructions from senior party leaders, including KT Rama Rao. He reportedly admitted to coordinating with absconding co-accused B Suresh to oversee the attack.
According to PTI, police alleged in their report that during interrogation, "Reddy confessed to conspiring and abetting others to destabilise the government, gain political mileage, and defame the Telangana government under instructions from party leaders, including KT Rama Rao".
Following the incident, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s brother, Tirupati Reddy, visited Vikarabad District Collector Prateek Jain to condemn the attack. Tirupati Reddy blamed BRS leaders KTR and Harish Rao for allegedly attempting to obstruct development in the Chief Minister’s Kodangal constituency and to tarnish Revanth Reddy’s reputation.
