Earlier this month, security forces neutralised one terrorist in an encounter in the Bariyama area of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. The encounter between terrorists and the Indian Army in the district continued for two days. The police advised people living in the area to stay at a distance of at least 2 kilometres for their safety, as per a PTI report. The Army had cordoned off the area to carry out their encounter in which the Indian Army Para Commandos had also joined.

The Additional Director of General of Police said that the terrorist is suspected to be a Pakistani. He said that forces recovered his bag which contained arms and ammunition. So far, one AK47, 2 pistols, magazines, ammunition, cash and other material have been seized.

A day prior to this encounter, an unidentified terrorist was killed during an exchange of fire with the security forces during the cordon-and-search operation launched by police and the Army at Gundha-Khawas village in the Budhal area. The body of the slain terrorist was later retrieved from the scene of the encounter.
