New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram for questioning in connection with an alleged aviation scam during UPA rule.

The questioning has been slated for August 23rd in the probe related to aviation scam money laundering case, officials said Monday.

The case pertains to losses suffered by Air India due to the alleged multi-crore aviation scam and irregularities in fixing air slots for international airlines.

Former aviation minister Praful Patel was previously grilled by the ED and it is understood that the agency now wants to question Chidambaram on their leads in this case.

The Congress leader is also being probed by ED in two separate money-laundering cases of Aircel-Maxis and INX Media.

Patel who was the former Civil Aviation Minister on Thursday also appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation for questioning in connection with the multi-crore airline slot allocation scam case.

Patel, who is the Nationalist Congress Party leader, was earlier questioned by the Enforcement Directorate  for his alleged involvement in awarding favourable air traffic rights to foreign airlines that caused losses to national carrier Air India.
