New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday published the electoral bonds data including the bond numbers as released by the State Bank of India (SBI).
The unique bond numbers would help match their purchasers with the political parties that received the funds.
Two separate lists of the donors and the recipients were published by the poll panel on its website after the details were submitted to it by the State Bank of India earlier in the day as per a Supreme Court order.
According to SBI chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara's submission, the prefix and bond number are alpha-numeric numbers. The SBI chairman in his compliance affidavit has said that the details furnished to the ECI include details of the purchaser including their name, date of purchase, and denomination of the bond and issue branch code.
He further said that complete KYC and bank account numbers are not being made public as it may compromise the security of the account.
The Supreme Court on Monday directed SBI to disclose all details of electoral bonds purchased and redeemed after the April 2019 interim order by the top court.It further asked SBI to file a compliance affidavit by Thursday.
A five-judge constitution bench was again constituted to hear the case pertaining to the complete disclosure of details of Electoral Bonds by SBI.
"There is no manner of doubt that SBI is required to give complete disclosure. This includes alpha-numeric numbers and serial numbers of the bonds purchased," the bench said in its order.
The bench had directed the SBI Chairman to file a compliance affidavit by 5 PM On Thursday stating that SBI has disclosed all details. And the ECI has to upload all details on communication by the SBI.
