New Delhi: An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale hit Kargil, Ladakh, on Monday. The quake struck at 7:01 pm in Kargil, Ladakh, informed the National Centre for Seismology.
There have been no reports of damage as a result of the quake, they added. Officials stated that tremors were detected at approximately 7.01 p.m.
The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.3, and its epicentre was located at a depth of 10 kilometres in the Astore region of Gilgit Baltistan, PTI reported.
Meanwhile, another tremor measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale jolted parts of Srinagar around 7:07 pm on Monday.
"Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.8, Occurred on 27-12-2021, 19:07:29 IST, Lat: 35.26 & Long: 74.80, Depth: 212 Km, Location: 130km N of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir," National Centre For Seismology said.
According to National Centre for Seismology, the tremors were felt in 146 kilometres of NNW of Kargil, Laddakh at 7:01 pm on Monday.
"An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred today around 07:01 pm at 146km NNW of Kargil, Laddakh," National Centre For Seismology said.
So far, there are no reports of damage due to the quake. Tremors were felt around 7.01 pm, officials said.
