A drunk elderly Swedish national was arrested on Thursday for allegedly abusing and molesting an IndiGo crew member on a Bangkok-Mumbai flight. He was produced before the Andheri Metropolitan Court on Friday and was released on a bail of Rs 20,000, a probe into the matter is underway, reported news agency IANS.

The accused, identified as one Klas Erik HJ Westberg, 63, was arrested after the IndiGo flight (6E-1052) landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, for alleged unruly behaviour on the flight.

As per the statements of the eyewitnesses recorded by the police, the accused started behaving in an unruly manner while demanding seafood and continued with his tantrums throughout the journey. The air hostess informed him that there was no seafood available and then served him chicken. However, when she asked him to pay the bill, he allegedly held her hand.

The crew member pushed him back to his seat and asked him to complete the transaction when the accused got up and started to molest her.

He also allegedly hurled abuses at the other crew members during the altercation and physically assaulted a passenger who tried to intervene, reported IANS.

The 24-year-old air hostess then informed the flight captain and warned the accused of possible consequences but to no avail.

Once the flight landed, IndiGo security staff and CISF were notified about the incident after which they took charge of him and later handed him over to Sahar Airport Police Station.

Another unruly incident by a flight passenger has come to light after a drunk passenger, who was travelling on an Indigo flight from Guwahati to Delhi on March 26, vomited in the aisle.

The incident came to the fore after Bhaskar Dev Konwar, who was also on the flight, shared a photo of one of the members of the cabin crew who was cleaning the aisle. He hailed her for handling the entire situation.
