With the aim to push forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' or Self-Reliant India, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Monday released a list of as many as 108 systems and subsystems which have been identified for designing and development by the Indian Industry. DRDO has assured full support to the private industries in India in designing and developing over 100 systems and subsystems.

The Defence Ministry in a statement on Twitter said, "A DRDO delegation met with Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh to apprise him about 108 systems and subsystems which have been identified for designing and development by the Indian Industry only. The DRDO will provide its support to industries in this development process."

The list of 108 systems and subsystems shared by DRDO includes Mini and Micro UAVs, ROVs, Multipurpose Decontamination Systems, Mobile Decontamination Systems, Unit Maintenance and repair vehicles, Marine Rocket Launcher, etc.

In the following tweet, the ministry also said that this initiative will pave the way for the Indian Defence industry to develop many technologies towards building an AtmaNirbhar Bharat.

The move has come days after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh imposed a ban on import of over 101 defence items beyond a given timeline against them, in order to boost indigenous production.

The list included high technology weapon systems such as artillery guns, assault rifles, corvettes, sonar systems, transport aircraft, light combat helicopters, radars, and many other items.
