New Delhi: India has recorded 1,20,529 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours and along with this, 3,380 people have lost their lives to the pandemic.


Meanwhile, 1,97,894 patients have recovered from Coronavirus disease.

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, 1,20,529 new Covid cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours, the lowest in 58 days (since April 8).


Active Cases have decreased by 80,745 in the last 24 hours. On a sustained downward slope, India's Active Caseload further decreased to 15,55,248; less than 2 Lakh for 9 successive days.


Today, for the 23rd consecutive day, there have been more recoveries than new cases of coronavirus.

There has been a steady decline in new Coronavirus cases, however, the number of fatalities continues to be a cause of concern. The fatalities witnessed a spike, crossing the 3,000 marks on Saturday once again after recording over 2,000 deaths in the last two days.


The death rate in the country is 1.19 percent while the recovery rate has exceeded 93 percent. Active cases have come down to less than 6 percent. 


The weekly positivity rate currently is at 6.89 percent. The daily positivity rate further dipped to 5.78 percent, less than 10 percent for 12 consecutive days.


According to the health ministry, there has been a steady continuous increase in the national recovery rate which stands at 93.38 percent today.


With substantially ramped up testing capacity, more than 36.1 crore tests have been total conducted so far. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 36,11,74,142 samples have been tested up to June 4. Of these 20,84,421 samples were tested on Friday.


Besides this, 22.78 crore Covid vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.


Daily Covid new cases have also continued to undergo a decline in Maharashtra but the day's death toll increased by a whopping 1,377, a new high that has taken the total zooming past the 98,000-mark, health officials said on Friday.


Compared to 553 deaths on Thursday, the state declared 1,377 fatalities (289 fresh, and 1,088 previous deaths), surpassing the previous peak of 1,320 deaths on May 23, to take the toll to 98,771.


The number of new Covid cases fell from 15,229 on Thursday to 14,152. With this, the state caseload rose above the 58 lakh level, to 58,05,565.
