New Delhi: As the doors of the Badrinath temple were flung open ceremoniously on Monday morning, thousands of devotees braved early morning chill for the first glimpse of the deity.

The doors (kapat)  were opened in the early dawn at 4:30 AM amid chanting of vedic mantras and the tunes played by the army band .

The pilgrims were waiting since the night in massive numbers for the first ritualistic glimpse of the god.

The temple is of utmost religious importance for Hindus.

The doors will remain opened for the next six months for the worship of Hindu god “lord Badrivishal’

The chairperson of the Badrinath temple Committee Ganesh Godiyal and Kedarnath MP Manoj Rawat were present on the occasion.

On Sunday, Kedarnath shrine doors were opened for devotees.

These temples remain closed for six months in the winter and remain open for the next six months.
