Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday condemned the attack on former US President Donald Trump saying violence has no place in politics and democracies.
"Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. Strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies. Wish him speedy recovery," said Modi in a post on social media platform X.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, those injured and the American people," he added.
The Republican leader was addressing a rally in Pennsylvania when bullet shots banged the area and Trump grimaced and clutched his hand to his right ear, with blood soon visible on his face. A person from the audience was killed in the attack while two people were critically injured, said the US Secret Service.
The Secret Service personnel promptly swarmed and escorted Trump off the stage who later said that he was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of his right ear.
