NEW DELHI: India has invited US President Donald Trump to be the chief guest for next year’s Republic Day parade and celebrations.

India is still awaiting an official response from the US.

In 2015, his predecessor Barack Obama came for Modi’s first R-Day guest in 2015. The parade saw the presence of his wife Michelle, President Pranab Mukherjee, PM Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.

Obama was the first US president to be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade in India.
