The issue of 'imposition of Hindi' language came to the fore yet again in the parliament. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, while raising an issue on climate change stuttered momentarily while saying the word 'Aatmanirbhar' in Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Kanimozhi is an MP from the Thoothukudi constituency.

As the surrounding MPs tried to correct her pronunciation of the said Hindi word, the DMK MP replied saying that “It is very difficult.”

After a slight pause, she added, “That is the problem. You don’t understand that we speak different languages. Either it can be in English or you can have it in regional languages. So that all of us can say it.”

Responding to the members of the house, a sarcastic Kanimozhi said, “Okay. Henceforth, I will speak in Tamil. Tell me if you understand. But, you insist that we should take permission for that. That is the problem.” (in Tamil)

Take a look at the video of the DMK MP in Lok Sabha:

As seen in the video, other Tamil-speaking members of the house applaud Kanimozhi's statement.

The video has received multiple shares and likes from Netizens. However, the issue of 'Imposition of Hindi' came to notice when a scene from the movie involving actor Prakash Raj had gone viral. In the scene, Prakash Raj, who plays IG Perumalsamy, slaps a Hindi-speaking pawnbroker, who looks to use language as an instrument to obfuscate the truth and his involvement in the crime.
