New Delhi: In a unique bid to make Diwali special, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to hand over the appointment letters of government jobs to 75,000 young people across the country on October 22. He will also launch the recruitment drive ‘Rozgar Mela’ on that day to recruit 10 lakh personnel.
According to a report by news agency ANI, PM Modi will interact with the shortlisted youngsters via video conferencing at 11am on Saturday.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Thursday said this will be a significant step towards fulfilling the continuous commitment of the prime minister to provide job opportunities for the youth and ensuring welfare of all the citizens.
The new recruits selected from across the country will be joining 38 ministries or departments of the Government of India. The appointees will join the government at various levels in Group A and B (Gazetted), Group B (Non-Gazetted) and Group C. The posts on which appointments are being made include the central armed force personnel, sub-inspectors, constables, LDC, steno, PA, income tax inspectors and MTS among others, the PMO statement said.
According to the PMO, the recruitments are being done by ministries and departments by themselves or through recruiting agencies such as UPSC, SSC and the Railway Recruitment Board.
The programme will be attended by many Union ministers, including Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Pandey, Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda and Minister of Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh.
It is to be noted that the move comes at a crucial juncture where the Centre has been severely criticized by the Opposition over unemployment in the country.
