New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and other political leaders extended their wishes on the occasion of Diwali today which is being celebrated across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and greeted people on Diwali and also wished that the festival brought them joy and well-being.


“Wishing everyone a Happy Diwali. Diwali is associated with brightness and radiance. May this auspicious festival further the spirit of joy and well-being in our lives. I hope you have a wonderful Diwali with family and friends,” he tweeted. 






President Murmu extended her diwali greeting to the citizens and prayed for “happiness and prosperity in the lives of all the countrymen.”


“Happy Diwali to all countrymen! On this holy festival of light and joy, let us try to bring happiness in the lives of those in need by lighting the lamp of knowledge and energy. On this great festival, I pray for happiness and prosperity in the lives of all the countrymen,” the President tweeted.






Union Home Minister Amit Shah also wished a ‘Happy Diwali’ to the citizens of the country. 


“Happy Diwali to all the countrymen. May this festival of lights bring happiness, health and prosperity in everyone's life,” he wrote. 


“Warm Diwali greetings to everyone. May this festival bring joy, health and wealth in your life,” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said. 


Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar wished for the spread the light of positive energy on the occasion of Diwali. 


“May the bright light of Diwali dispel the darkness of negativity and spread the light of positive energy everywhere, may success, fame, happiness and prosperity flourish in your life. Happy Diwali and Lakshmi Puja everyone!” he said. 


Jammu Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Happy Diwali. May the light from all the lamps fill your lives with happiness, good health, peace and prosperity.”
