In view of the rising coronavirus cases in the country, the Union Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry has issued an advisory to all private television channels urging to generate greater awareness on the message of ‘Dawai Bhi, Kadai Bhi’ by disseminating messages for Covid-19 appropriate behavior and vaccination of eligible persons.


The Information and Broadcasting Ministry reiterated the leadership role hitherto played by private television channels in spreading the message in public interest.


The advisory cites the meeting held under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership earlier on Sunday to review the emerging situation where it was decided to focus on a five-fold strategy of testing, tracing, treatment, Covid appropriate behaviour and vaccination.

Prime Minister Modi, who chaired the high-level meeting to review the Covid-19 pandemic situation and vaccination program in the country, directed awareness of the community and its involvement is paramount for sustainable Covid-19 management and emphasized there is a need to continue ‘Jan Bhagidari’ and ‘Jan Andolan’ for the same.


In tune with the same, a special campaign for Covid appropriate behaviour with emphasis on 100 percent mask usage, personal hygiene and sanitation at public places /workplaces and health facilities has been organised beginning today to April 14.

Prime Minister Modi directed that central teams consisting of public health specialists and clinicians be sent to Maharashtra in view of high case load and deaths, and likewise to Punjab and Chhattisgarh because of the disproportionate number of deaths being reported there. 


He also directed to continue with the mission-mode approach in the states and districts reporting high cases so that the collective gains of Covid-19 management in the country in the last 15 months are not squandered.
