Dilip Ghosh Convoy Attack: 'River Of Blood Will Flow If Mamata Not Restricted,' Alleges Bengal BJP Chief

“Mamata Banerjee is trying to incite the people from a particular community. She should be restricted or else the river of blood will flow in Bengal and free and fair elections will not take place in the state,” he said.

Cooch Behar: Alleging that he was attacked with crude bombs, sticks and bricks by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in Coooch Behar’s Sitalkuchi area, West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Dilip Ghosh on Wednesday accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of inciting the people from a particular community and demanded cancellation of her election meetings to ensure free and fair polling in the state.

Accusing the TMC supremo of provoking the people, Ghosh demanded that the former be restricted for peaceful elections in West Bengal.

“Mamata Banerjee is trying to incite the people from a particular community. She should be restricted or else the river of blood will flow in Bengal and free and fair elections will not take place in the state,” he said.

Throwing light on the incident, Ghosh said that he somehow managed to escape after his car was attacked.

“I was in Sitalkuchi, Cooch Behar, for the poll rally. While it was going on, the people returning in vehicles from Mamata Banerjee’s rally were threatening our workers, showing them sticks and creating tension. The police beat up our workers amid this,” said Ghosh.

“When our (BJP) people started leaving later, the police asked us to stop for a while. When I started leaving after all the workers, the police left me and went away. I was then surrounded by hundreds of people, who attacked us with sticks and bricks. I was injured. Many vehicles were vandalized,” he added.

The BJP workers later in the day staged a protest outside the Election Commission office in Kolkata under the leadership of party MP Saumitra Khan to express their ire over the incident

Voting for the West Bengal Assembly polls is being held in eight phases this time. Voting in Cooch Behar district will take place in the fourth phase of the assembly elections on April 10.
