NEW DELHI: The MEA released publicly listed gifts received in Toshakhana from October 2018 to December 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Indian government officials, others from foreign nationals or when on foreign visits. The received gifts are deposited in the Ministry of External Affairs' treasury.


On the Toshakhana webpage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received around 27 gifts while Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, received a box containing rings, pen, watch worth 4 crores. Sanjeev Singla, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister got one L.U. Chopard wrist watch worth 1.25 crore.

Modi also received one pair of cufflinks in sterling silver and paintings books, photo frames, shawls, figurines of gods and goddess, tea sets, among others, according to the data.

The list also shows gifted items like a diamond studded wrist watch, figurines, a portrait of Rabindra Nath Tagore, books, a replica of the Registan Ensemble Samarkand and Arabic silver incense burner.

It is reported that if the market value of the gift is less than this amount, the person is allowed to keep it.
