Mumbai: Depressed over his ex-girlfriend getting engaged to another man, a 26-year-old man committed suicide by jumping off Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli sea link at 3am on Sunday.

His body was found at sea side near Bandra Fort this morning, police said on Monday.

According to police the deceased identified as Pawandeep Singh Kohli, a resident of Khar, allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the Bandra-Worli Sealink from Worli area.

Kohli, is son of a businessman and was missing. A missing complaint was also filed at Khar police station, said another police official.

"We received information at around 9:30 am that a body was seen near the rocks at Bandra Fort. Police rushed to the spot and retrieved it with the help of fire brigade officials," police said.

Reports said he was drunk and took the extreme step as he was depressed. The taxi driver told the police that the man had asked him to drop him in the middle of the sealink bridge as he wanted to vomit.

Kohli’s body was sent for post-mortem.

"The deceased was identified by his father," said senior police inspector, Bandra, Pandit Thackeray.
