Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot slammed the BJP on Saturday over internal party democracy, claiming that elections are not held in the BJP because its leaders are "fascists" who just wear a "mask of democracy," news agency PTI reported.

Gehlot, who is in the national capital for the "Mehngai par halla bol" rally on Sunday at the Ramlila Maidan, also met with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Speaking about the Congress presidential elections, he stated: "In Congress, elections were held during the time of Narasimha Rao ji, Sitaram Kesri ji and when Sonia Gandhi ji became the president, elections were held. But have you ever heard that elections are held in the BJP?"

In an attack on the BJP, the senior Congress politician stated that it is not debated when Rajnath Singh becomes president and when he walks down, when Amit Shah becomes president and when he stands down, and when JP Nadda becomes party president.

"The people of BJP are fascists, they only wear the mask of democracy and these people have no faith in democracy," Gehlot was quoted by PTI in its report.

The BJP's parliamentary board was recently replaced, and Nitin Gadkari and Shivraj Singh Chouhan were dismissed; yet, "was there any election for it?" he wondered.

Highlighting party's rally on Sunday, Gehlot said, "Democracy is in danger and you are seeing what the situation is. Politics of creating pressure is being done."

'Mehngai Par Halla Bol': Congress To Hold Mass Protest Rally At Ramlila Maidan Today

With a large show of force in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, the Congress will launch an all-out attack on the BJP government over price rises, unemployment, and the GST hike on vital products.

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and other party officials are scheduled to speak at the "Mehngai par halla bol" event tomorrow. It would be attended by party activists from Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, as well as others from throughout the country.

The demonstration comes ahead of the opposition party's 3,500-kilometer "Bharat Jodo Yatra" from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, which begins on September 7 and will highlight concerns like as rice prices and unemployment, as well as promote racial unity.
